APPLICATION AND REQUIREMENTS

California Skeet Shooting Association

The California Skeet Shooting Association has established the Horton Family Scholarship Fund. The fund grants a one-time $1,500.00 scholarship to an eligible high school senior or college applicant and is based on the applicant attending a four-year college program, a two-year junior college or an accredited trade school This application will be awarded prior to the Fall Semester. An application may be submitted for any year (not just the first year) that you have successfully completed the prior year of school in good standing per the terms below.

It will be the responsibility of the recipient to send a copy of each semester’s grades bearing the SEAL of the office of the Registrar to the Scholarship Committee (grades from the internet MUST have your name and address to be accepted). Scholarship payment will be made at the beginning of each school year after grades have been submitted (senior year of high school grades for the first year or applicable transcript). Summer sessions are excluded from this program. Full-time status (12 hrs. minimum per semester) and a “C” average must be maintained to be awarded this scholarship. A reasonable lapse in attendance for college approved internship programs may be permitted. Continued active CSSA registered skeet participation is required,

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicant must be a CSSA member.
  2. Completion of scholarship application (see attached).
  3. Essay (100 words or less) explaining the need of financial assistance.Letter of personal recommendation (i.e. high school counselor, skeetinstructor).
  4. A copy of class rank / high school or college grades
  5. A copy of past shooting history and accomplishments.

Submission deadline: On or before May 1st of each year
The Scholarship Committee will review all applications, The scholarship awardees will be personally notified and the committee‘s decision announced at the State Skeet Championships.
